FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for purification vanadium pentoxide. Industrial grade vanadium pentoxide is converted to vanadium oxytrichloride by low-temperature chlorination in a fluidized bed, where the chlorinating gas is preheated by heat exchange between the fluidizing gas and the flue gas and an appropriate amount of air is added to ensure the combustion of a portion of the carbon powder, achieving a balanced heat input during the chlorination. Vanadium oxytrichloride is purified by rectification, then subjected to oxidation in a plasma to produce a product of high purity vanadium pentoxide and gaseous chlorine. Gaseous chlorine is returned to the low-temperature chlorination process.
EFFECT: proposed system and method provide absence of discharges of polluted waste water, low energy consumption and consumption of chlorine during production, stable product quality.
