FIELD: optics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fibre optics and can be used in fibre-optic gyroscopes (FOG). Essence of the invention is that the optical unit of the FOG comprises an optical radiation source assembled on the input fibre of a fibre-optic insulator, the output of which is connected to the RX port of the optical multiplexer, to the COM port of which a piece of erbium-doped optical fibre is connected, and with an optical mirror at the other end, and the multiplexer TX port is connected to the first port of the optical circulator, which is a three-port device with isolated unidirectional ports. At that, the signal from the first port of the circulator is transmitted to the second port, and from the second port to the third port, which is connected to the photodiode, wherein the second port of the circulator is connected to the input of the optical radiation polariser, on the other side the polariser is connected to the PM-splitter, output ends of which are closed by an optical fibre circuit made in the form of a coil with a quadrupole winding; part of the optical fibre of the circuit is wound on the piezoceramic element of the phase modulator, and the contour fibre is wound on the outer part of the housing of the optical unit; other elements are located in the inner cavity of the housing.
