SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of configuring a wheeled-caterpillar courier complex (courier robot). Configurable wheeled-caterpillar courier complex includes wheeled configuration and caterpillar configuration. Operator of robotic couriers can configure it for current road conditions. Wheel configuration includes two or more fixed pairs of main wheels installed in the body of the robot-courier. Caterpillar configuration includes caterpillar belts and additional wheels installed on main wheels so that between them there is a gap for caterpillar projections fixing it on wheels. Torque transfer from main wheels to caterpillars can be performed both due to friction between external surfaces of main and additional wheels and internal surface of caterpillars, and due to teeth on additional wheels interacting with grooves in caterpillars. Caterpillar configuration may include front and rear, or only front, or only rear track idlers. Configuration without track idlers is also possible, at the same time tension of caterpillars is provided due to their elasticity.
EFFECT: higher cross-country capacity at preservation of possibility of high speed of movement on roads with hard surface.
