SUBSTANCE: aerosol-generating article (10) for producing an inhaled aerosol when heated, wherein the aerosol-generating article comprises aerosol-generating substrate rod (12), and downstream section (14) at a location downstream of aerosol-generating substrate rod (12), note here that downstream section 14 comprises aerosol cooling element 24 aligned with aerosol-generating substrate rod 12. Aerosol cooling element (24) comprises hollow tubular segment (34), which defines cavity (36) passing through the entire distance from upstream end (38) of hollow tubular segment (34) to downstream end (40) of hollow tubular segment (34). Aerosol-generating article (10) further comprises ventilation zone (60) at a location along the hollow tubular segment (34), and the hollow tubular segment (34) has a length of less than approximately 10 mm.

EFFECT: ease of use, improved practicality, efficiency and high speed of manufacture, preferably with satisfactory RTD and low variability of RTD from one article to another.
