FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to chemical engineering, specifically to a method of producing nitrophenols in microchannels, and can be used to produce pharmaceutical substances, energy-saturated compounds, dyes and other substances of low-tonnage and special-purpose chemistry. In the disclosed method, the phenol nitration process is carried out with nitric acid or a nitrating mixture containing nitric acid and acetic acid, with a molar ratio of phenol to nitric acid or nitric acid contained in the nitrating mixture of 1:1 to 1:1.75. Process is carried out at temperature of 5 to 60 °C, and solutions of phenol and nitric acid with different concentrations are simultaneously fed with total flow rates from 0.25 to 2 ml/min into microchannels from stainless steel or polytetrafluoroethylene with inner diameters from 0.1 to 1 mm.
EFFECT: simplification of the technology, considerable reduction of reaction volume and, as a result, higher safety of the highly exothermic nitration process, as well as higher yield of the reaction with respect to p-nitrophenol and o-nitrophenol in comparison with capacitive versions of the technology.
