FIELD: aerosol generating devices.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a device for generating an aerosol and a method of operating the device for generating an aerosol. Aerosol generation device comprises a housing, the shape of which defines an elongated injection space, a heater configured to heat the aerosol generation substance in accordance with the supply of power to the heater, a resistance recognition sensor configured to transmit a signal corresponding to the resistance of the heater, and a controller. Controller is configured to: determine the initial resistance of the heater based on the signal received from the resistance recognition sensor in response to the insertion of the stick into the insertion space; controlling power supply to the heater based on a given temperature profile; determining the change in the initial resistance based on the temperature of the heater, which is outside the predetermined temperature range, wherein the temperature of the heater is calculated based on the signal received from the resistance recognition sensor and the initial resistance; and change of initial resistance based on difference between calculated temperature of heater and specified reference temperature.

EFFECT: enabling the heater resistance change based on the heater temperature during the pre-heating period and/or the heating period, as a result, enabling generation of a constant amount of aerosol during the heating period by changing the initial resistance of the heater, as well as the possibility of accurately determining whether the substance for generating the aerosol is completely consumed during the pre-heating period and/or the heating period.
