FIELD: aerosol generating devices.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device for generating an aerosol and a method of operating such a device. An aerosol generating device comprises a heater configured to heat the substance to generate an aerosol, a battery configured to supply power to the heater, a temperature sensor located next to the battery, and a controller and the method of operating the device is characterized by that after stopping the battery charging, the controller monitors the temperature sensor readings, wherein, if the temperature sensor reading monitoring result satisfies the predetermined condition relating to the battery, the controller determines that the temperature sensor readings correspond to the battery temperature, and if the temperature sensor reading tracking result does not satisfy the specified condition, the controller determines that the temperature sensor reading compensation result corresponds to the battery temperature.
EFFECT: high accuracy of determining temperature of an accumulator using a temperature sensor located next to the accumulator, as well as termination of battery charging depending on the temperature of the accumulator.
