SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to versions of an aerosol generation device and a method of operating the aerosol generation device. Aerosol generating device comprises a housing, the shape of which determines the introduction space, the size of which allows accommodating a stick, as well as a first sensor configured to output a signal corresponding to the presence of a stick in the insertion space, a heater configured to heat a stick located in the insertion space in accordance with the supply of power to the heater, a second sensor configured to output a signal corresponding to the temperature of the heater, and a controller. Controller is configured to: control the supply of power to the heater based on the signal of the first sensor indicating the presence of a stick in the insertion space; determining presence of a stick in space for introduction in each of several periods of power supply to the heater based on the signal of the second sensor; and interruption of power supply to heater based on determination of absence of stick in space for introduction based on signal of second sensor.

EFFECT: accurate determination of stick insertion based on various conditions corresponding to several periods of power supply to the heater.
