METHOD FOR DIFFERENTIAL RADIATION DIAGNOSIS OF ADRENAL TUMOURS IN CHILDREN USING MULTISPIRAL COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY AND MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61B5/55 A61B6/03

Abstract RU 2831338 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to oncology, radiation diagnosis, and can be used for differential radiation diagnosis of adrenal tumours in children. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is performed and T1 and T2 weighted images (WI) are obtained in coronary and axial planes with suppression of MR signal from adipose tissue and without it. Further, a contrast preparation of gadolinium is administered, and a T1 WI postvenous phase of 50 sec is obtained. Multispiral computed tomography (MSCT) with intravenous contrast enhancement is performed. MRI malignancy index (MI1) and the MSCT malignancy index (MI2) are calculated. If one of MI1 and MI2 is more than 0.5, a malignant nature of the formation is predicted. If the sum of MI1 and MI2 is less than 0.5, the presence of malignant growth is unlikely.

EFFECT: method provides selecting the most effective approach to patient management by combining two techniques for determining an adrenal neoplasm index – MRI and CT.
