SUBSTANCE: invention relates to toxicological research. Disclosed is a method for quantitative determination of acrylonitrile in water by gas chromatography using vapour-phase analysis, characterized by the fact that water is sampled, preparing it for analysis by adding a hydrochloric acid solution to a water sample until pH=3 and then adding a salting-out reagent – sodium sulphate, holding the mixture to establish interphase equilibrium, flask is installed in the equilibrium steam dispenser of the gas chromatograph, heating to temperature of 80 °C and held at this temperature for 30 minutes to establish phase equilibrium, then performing the formed vapour phase selection, performing the input into the chromatograph column and analysing on the gas chromatograph with the thermal ion detector, a chromatogram corresponding to acrylonitrile is recorded, while determining the peak area, and concentration of acrylonitrile in water is determined using a calibration curve, wherein gas chromatographic analysis is carried out on a capillary column.

EFFECT: invention increases sensitivity and accuracy of determining acrylonitrile in water.
