FIELD: various technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to additive manufacturing technologies and can be used to control the thermal cycle of the process of layer-by-layer electric arc surfacing of a metal article. Surfacing modes are selected and the temperature field is pre-simulated. Optimum graphs of thermal cycle are determined for all deposition stages, on the basis of which initial temperature of metal base, maximum and minimum temperature of deposited metal and time of interlayer holding are established. During holding, the temperature of the surface of the built-up layer is recorded and compared with the established boundary values, and at its deviation before the build-up of a new layer, the holding time is changed. In case surface temperature of deposited metal exceeds maximum set temperature by more than 30 °C, it is subjected to forced air cooling.
EFFECT: method ensures achievement of required geometry, structure and properties of deposited metal due to control of thermal cycle of layer-by-layer electric arc surfacing depending on temperature of surface of deposited layer.
