FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of sports medicine and functional diagnostics of aerobic abilities (endurance, load tolerance) of a person, in particular an athlete. Gradually increasing physical activity test is performed. To carry out the disclosed method, the test is carried out on a bicycle ergometer. Initial load power of test is 60 W, then the load is increased in steps, adding 30 W for each next loading step. Duration of operation at each loading stage is 10–30 seconds, the duration of the test is until the person being tested refuses to continue working. Before testing, a warm-up is performed for 3 minutes, for a bicycle ergometer this is pedalling with power of 60 W and rate of 70–80 rpm. Upon completion of testing, the work power at which the person being tested has finished is recorded, the maximum oxygen consumption value is determined, and a conclusion is made on the level of aerobic abilities of the athlete. Additionally, maximum heart rate and maximum pulmonary ventilation are determined.

EFFECT: method provides reduction of testing time, but at the same time obtaining reliable assessment of aerobic abilities.
