SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for evaluation of melting index of scrap loaded into refining furnace of converter type. Device comprises: an input section, into which measured values of in-furnace information or estimated values of in-furnace information are entered, at that, in-furnace information contains temperature of molten cast iron and concentration of carbon in molten cast iron during refining, database section, which stores model equation and parameters relating to refining reaction of molten iron in refining furnace of converter type, design section, which calculates the scrap melting index using the measured values or estimated values entered into the inlet section and the outlet section, which displays the scrap melting index calculated by the design section, which is configured to correct the entered values of temperature of molten cast iron and concentration of carbon in molten cast iron in accordance with the scrap melting index obtained at calculation one stage earlier.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to accurately estimate the nature of scrap melting during a short period of time, reducing costs for calculations.
