SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the smoking products that produce an aerosol. The aerosol delivery device includes terminals for connecting a power source to the aerosol delivery device, an aerosol generation component, and a buck-boost regulator circuit coupled to a load including the aerosol generation component. The buck-boost regulator circuit includes a buck-boost controller for driving a plurality of power switches in a synchronous switching converter topology. The plurality of power switches includes a high side power switch coupled between the power supply and the switch node, and a low side power switch connected between the switch node and ground. The buck-boost regulator circuit also includes an inductor connected between the switching node and the load. In buck mode, the buck-boost controller provides pulse-width modulation signals to alternately turn on and off the high-side power switch and turn on and off the low-side power switch.
