METHOD FOR SIMULATING RESECTION IN CHILDREN WITH POST-ISCHEMIC DEFORMITIES OF FEMORAL HEAD Russian patent published in 2025 - IPC A61B17/56

Abstract RU 2833972 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to orthopaedics, and can be used in surgical treatment of children with post-ischemic deformities of the femoral head. At the preoperative stage, a three-dimensional model of the femoral head and cotyloid cavity is created using computer simulation and 3D printing. A virtual planning of the simulating resection is performed, during which 3D model of the femoral head is compared with a vertical section in the sagittal plane of the edge of the cotyloid cavity and the collision points are visualized. Marks are created on the proximal femur to indicate the collision points of the femoral head and the edge of the cotyloid cavity, respectively. An individual device is made in the form of an onlay in the form of a vertical section of an edge of the cotyloid cavity, made in a sagittal plane in accordance with figure 2 with possibility of its landing on a femoral head. According to the preoperative planning, the femoral head is approached, the head area is skeletonized and the above individual device is placed on the bone surface. After the device is positioned, the bone substrate removal point is marked. Using a high-speed bur and a chisel, a femoral head is resected and bone fragments are removed.

EFFECT: method provides accurate determination of the true shape and size of the femoral head and enables resection of the femoral head in accordance with the planned virtually individual correction due to use of individual device with possibility of its landing on femoral head for visualization of collision point and asphericity of head.
