FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to genetics and can be used in treating mitochondrial diseases. Use according to the invention relates to a composition containing deoxynucleosides in an amount of more than one, selected from the group consisting of deoxyadenosine, deoxyguanosine, deoxycytidine and deoxythymidine, for the treatment of mitochondrial DNA depletion and/or deletion syndrome caused by a DNA polymerase gamma-1 (POLG1) subunit defect.
EFFECT: use of the invention enables to achieve an increase in the rate of polymerization of mitochondrial DNA regardless of the mutation in the POLG gene.
