FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to use of dental care products containing self-assembled peptides. Disclosed is the use of a dentifrice containing (i) self-assembled peptides containing the sequence SEQ ID NO: 21, where at least 80 % of said self-assembled peptides are present in said dentifrice in assembled form, and (ii) a pharmaceutically acceptable base, to reduce further demineralisation of the dental surface of a subject suffering from dental demineralisation, where the subject has a disease or condition selected from a group comprising xerostomia and hyposalivation. Said dentifrice is a substantially solid preparation selected from the group consisting of chewing gum, soft candy, toffee, gelatinous chewing gum, chewing candy, chewing toy, lozenge or tablet; wherein said agent is not abrasive and does not contain 0.4 wt. % or more inorganic particles having a size of at least 0.1 mcm.
EFFECT: use of the invention provides formation of a protective layer of a self-assembled peptide, which reduces further demineralisation regardless of the presence of saliva in the oral cavity of the subject.
