FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to non-ferrous metallurgy, in particular to production of aluminium by electrolytic method, and can be used for reduction of frequency of anode effects and reduction of perfluorocarbon release during electrolytic production of aluminium. Method involves adding alumina to the anode mass and forming the anode, wherein alumina is added at the stage of producing the anode mass, the anode is formed to form a central part containing alumina from 10 to 20% of the total volume of the anode, and a peripheral part containing alumina from 1 to 10% of the total volume of the anode, and the height of the alumina-containing anode mass in the anode is equal to 80 to 85% of the height of the anode.
EFFECT: reduced emissions of perfluorocarbons and frequency of anode effects, achieving more uniform distribution of current along the bottom of the anode and increased current output of the aluminium electrolytic cell due to the anode containing alumina.
