SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and a system for measuring distance between boundaries of objects along one measurement axis. Method includes stages, at which: measured boundaries of objects successively fall into zone of visibility of light-sensitive element, method includes changing the mutual position of the boundaries of objects and the light-sensitive element along a given trajectory with a given speed and pitch, light-sensitive element fixes the value of light flux along the plane An passing through the light-sensitive element and perpendicular to the measurement axis, n=1,2,3..., on the whole trajectory, the obtained values of the light flux are compared with the corresponding reference values of the light flux, the distance between the boundaries is determined as the distance between the mutually parallel planes An1 and An2, taking into account, where An1 corresponds to the first boundary of the object or the beginning of the interval between objects, in which the change in the value of the light flux along the given plane is recorded, in comparison with reference value of light flux for this plane, An2 corresponds to the second boundary of the object or to the end of the interval between objects, in which the change in the value of light flux along the given plane is fixed on the trajectory, in comparison with the reference value of the light flux for this plane.
