FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an ophthalmic device containing a composition with a high refraction index and can be used as implanted ophthalmic devices. Ophthalmic device contains a composition obtained by free-radical polymerisation of a reaction mixture of monomers containing: a) at least one hydrophobic monomer; b) at least one hydrophilic monomer, which is a poly(ethylene glycol)-containing monomer selected from poly(ethylene glycol)methacrylate and poly(ethylene glycol)methyl ester of methacrylate; and c) a tricyclo[5.2.1.02,6]decanedimethanol di(meth)acrylate cross-linking agent; wherein the composition exhibits a refractive index of at least 1.45 and an Abbe number of at least 39; and wherein the ophthalmic device comprises an intraocular lens, a contact lens, a corneal inlay, a corneal patch or a corneal insert. Invention also relates to an ophthalmic device containing a composition obtained by free-radical polymerisation of a reaction mixture of monomers containing: a) at least one cycloaliphatic (meth)acrylate monomer containing more than one cycloaliphatic ring; b) at least one hydrophilic monomer, which is a poly(ethylene glycol)-containing monomer selected from poly(ethylene glycol)methacrylate and poly(ethylene glycol)methyl ester of methacrylate; and c) at least one cross-linking agent; wherein the composition exhibits a refractive index of at least 1.45 and an Abbe number of at least 39; and wherein the ophthalmic device comprises an intraocular lens, a contact lens, a corneal inlay, a corneal patch or a corneal insert. Additionally, the invention relates to a composition for use in ophthalmic devices, to an ophthalmic device containing a composition for use in ophthalmic devices, and to a method for making an ophthalmic device.
EFFECT: providing material with relatively high refraction index and Abbe number, which is characterized by flexibility and can be used in optical devices, in flexible intraocular lenses.
