FIELD: electronics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electronics, to devices and methods which enable to obtain megawatt power based on field emission. Method of controlling the field emission current consists in changing the field near the cathode by changing the distance between the cathode and the anode. Cathode used is structures with negative electronic affinity in form of ultrafine nanodiamonds in amount of 109-1010 per cm2, and the characteristic anode-cathode distance is from 100 nm to several microns. Device is a grounded metal housing in which a cathode is located, which includes at least two piezoelectric elements, which change dimensions under the effect of applied voltage. Upper surface of the cathode is a surface with negative electronic affinity. Anode and cathode are located with a gap relative to each other.
EFFECT: increasing power and efficiency of devices using field emission.
