FIELD: electronic engineering, light-emitting displays, electronic emission basing on field emission of multipoint carbon structures.
SUBSTANCE: multipoint field-emission cathode material is synthesized in microwave gas-discharge plasma of evaporated carbon-containing materials, such as ethanol, within the range of process parameters affording transfer from deposition of graphite to deposition of diamond films. Composite material formed in the process is essentially graphite matrix with inclusions of nano-diamond crystallites measuring d < L, where L = (ε0kT/e2π0 is depleted layer thickness in semiconductor structure of diamond crystallites; ε is dielectric constant of material; k is Boltzmann constant; T is absolute temperature; e is electron charge; n0 is free carrier concentration associated with three-dimensional equations. Manufacturing technology of multipoint field-emission cathode matrix is compatible with that used for integrated-circuit manufacture.
EFFECT: enhanced mechanical and electric strength, heat conductance at high efficiency and stability of field emission; extended service life.
