FIELD: biotechnology; virology.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of culturing highly pathogenic influenza A virus. Method involves the following steps: a) cell culture propagation in a culture fluid-free medium, b) cell culture infection with influenza A virus, c) incubating an influenza virus infected cell culture under conditions which allow an increase in the influenza virus population, wherein cell culture used is a culture of yeast mitochondria Saccharomyces cerevisiae SI79-5A (VKPM Y-100).

EFFECT: method allows avoiding the use of mammalian organ cell culture.
