FIELD: electric power supply of alternating current railways.
SUBSTANCE: method of compensating for reactive power by a static generator (SGRP) in an AC traction network on fully controlled power transistors IGBT consists in the fact that the given compensation power Qset is divided into smaller powers and a distributed system of SGRP is introduced in the traction network. Limiting power of SGRP Ql is determined at the sectioning post, which does not have a harmful effect on train communication and rail circuits of signalling system, and this power of SGRP Ql is set at the sectioning post. Remaining power from specified (Qset-Ql) is connected to remote point of traction network from sectioning post, namely to point of parallel connection (PPC) of traction network or to traction substation.
EFFECT: reduction of interference to long-distance train communication and rail circuits of signalling system to permissible values.
