FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to environmental protection, namely to treatment of acid mine waters containing heavy metals and lithium. 10% aqueous ammonia solution in amount of 1.5±0.5 vol.% from the total amount of water treated in the reaction zone and heavy metal hydroxides are precipitated. Treated water with sediment is fed into a settling tank, in which the sediment is compacted and then removed from the water. Into treated water containing ammonium sulphate and lithium hydroxide, ammonium carbonate is added to obtain lithium carbonate in water, which in form of sediment is extracted as finished product or left in water for use together with ammonium sulphate as ammonium-lithium fertilizer.

EFFECT: invention provides the possibility of increasing the efficiency of water treatment and the use of all products of the reaction of interaction of compounds of heavy and light metals found in acidic mine water of the sulphate class with water disinfecting reagents.
