FIELD: smoking accessories.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to an aerosol-generating article containing an aerosol-generating substrate and adapted to produce an inhaled aerosol when heated. Present invention also relates to an aerosol-generating system comprising an aerosol-generating device and said aerosol-generating article. Aerosol-generating article comprises an aerosol-generating substrate rod having length of 8 mm to 16 mm; an upstream element provided upstream of the aerosol-generating substrate rod, wherein the upstream element has an outer diameter of 6 mm to 8 mm; hollow tubular element provided downstream of the aerosol-generating substrate rod, wherein the inner volume defined by the hollow tubular element is at least 300 cubic millimeters; and a ventilation zone for providing ventilation in the aerosol generating article, wherein the ventilation zone is located at distance of 12 mm to 20 mm earlier in the flow direction relative to the said aerosol-generating end located further in the flow direction. Aerosol-generating system comprises an article, said aerosol-generating article and an aerosol-generating device comprising heating chamber to house the aerosol-generating article and at least a heating element arranged at the periphery or at the periphery of the heating chamber.

EFFECT: creation of an article with improved practicality, with satisfactory RTD and low variability of RTD from one article to another, as well as providing satisfactory aerosol delivery to the consumer.
