SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing cyclohexanone. Method involves treating cyclohexene oxide with carbon dioxide in the presence of potassium iodide in molar ratio cyclohexene oxide : potassium iodide of 100:5-10 at temperature of 130-190 °C, followed by filtration and fractional distillation at pressure of 2.7 kPa.
EFFECT: obtaining cyclohexanone using a simple and efficient method using minimum amounts of non-toxic reagents.
