FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to neurosurgery. Craniotomy is performed over an area larger than the size of a portion of an echinococcal cyst adjoining the site of the trephine opening. It involves encephalotomy and separation of a wall of an echinococcal cyst from an edge of an unchanged brain by hydrodissection with physiologic saline at rate of 1 ml/s. After separating 1/3 of the echinococcal cyst wall area, the head end of the operating table is lowered by 30°, continuing the hydropreparation with physiological saline at rate of 1 ml/s. Simultaneously, the echinococcal cyst is exposed to the brain surface in the area of cyst localization manually until the cyst is separated from the brain. Hydropreparation is stopped. Cyst is removed. Dura mater defect is closed. Bone flap is laid and soft tissues are closed. All manipulations are performed under neuronavigation control.
EFFECT: method enables performing the atraumatic total removal of the hydatid echinococcal cerebral cyst, preventing the recurrence of the disease and eliminating the probability of recurrent surgeries.
