FIELD: virology.
SUBSTANCE: what is described is a method for differentiating the Rockborn strain of canine distemper virus from the other CDV strains involving extraction of CDV RNA from a sample and reverse transcription and PCR of a specific cDNA fragment of the CDV genome. That is followed by analysing single-nucleotide polymorphisms of the H-gene with differentiating the Rockborn strain of canine distemper virus by peak melting point.
EFFECT: possibility of differentiation of the Rockborn strain of canine distemper virus causative agent from other strains of the CDV by analysing single-nucleotide polymorphisms of the H-gene of the CDV and melting temperature of PCR products with high sensitivity, specificity and reliability.
