FIELD: medical science.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to obstetrics and gynaecology, neonatology, and can be used for prediction of cerebral ischemia in full-term newborns of the mothers whose pregnancy was complicated by foetal growth restriction. Peripheral venous blood is sampled from pregnant women suffering foetal growth restriction on 22-37th week of gestation. Blood apelin concentration is determined. If its value is 20.9 ng/ml or less, early neonatal cerebral ischemia is predicted to develop in full-term newborns of the mothers whose pregnancy was complicated by intrauterine growth restriction.
EFFECT: method enables the earlier prediction of cerebral ischemia in the full-term newborns of the mothers whose pregnancy was complicated by foetal growth restriction by determining the blood apelin concentration in the pregnant women.
