FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement of fuel volume in vehicle fuel tank. Method consists in the movable element linear displacement conversion, located on the fuel surface and connected to the potentiometer slider included into the indicator measuring system, into the electrical value – the variable active resistance, which varies in accordance with the fuel level change in the fuel tank, at that, the movable element is made in the form of a movable plate with seals with possibility of tight fit to the fuel tank walls and to the fuel in the fuel tank, and the movable plate linear displacement is measured along the normal to the fuel surface, wherein during fuel running out of fuel tank compressed air from engine compressor is forced into space between fuel tank cover and movable plate, in filling fuel tank, compressed air is bled from space between fuel tank cover and moving plate.

EFFECT: minimization of measurement error of fuel volume in vehicle fuel tank, elimination of fuel redistribution in vehicle fuel tank.
