FIELD: foundry production.
SUBSTANCE: preparation method of metal mould for metal casting involves heating of split spherical matrix to 100-200 °C and heated metal spherical mould with refractory coating applied thereon is placed therein with close contact. Then split matrix is cooled to temperature of 20-30 °C, this brings about stressed state of all-round compression in mould walls. Preliminary creation of compressive stresses in the wall of the casting mould leads to reduction of tensile stresses in the wall of the casting mould, which are formed during manufacture of metal spherical castings under internal gas pressure.
EFFECT: higher resistance of mould to cracking at high internal gas pressure.
