FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: method involves two-stage oxidation of cycloalkanol C6-C12 or a mixture of cycloalkanol C6-C12 and cycloalkanone C6-C12 with nitric acid at increased temperature in the presence of copper-vanadium catalyst. Evolved inert gas is mixed with oxygen-containing gas and washed at the first stage at 30-85 C and pressure 1 atm with absorbate obtained at the second stage. Total parental cycloalkanol is used as a washing agent at the second stage. Parental cycloalkanol is added to absorbate after the first stage of washing, or directly into reactor at the first oxidation stage. Under these conditions process selectivity is increased by 0.6-14.5%, the presence of nitrogen oxides in evolved gases is excluded.
