Abstract SU 1829745 A1

FIELD: acceleration engineering. SUBSTANCE: for ionizing working medium in ion source, use is made of arc discharge in ionizing chamber between thermionic cathode and anode arranged in its ends; arc burns in longitudinal magnetic field. Ions are extracted crosswise of magnetic field through slit in front wall of ionizing chamber parallel to magnetic field; ion beam is shaped by three-electrode ion-optic system. Longitudinal magnetic field is built up by electromagnet whose magnetic circuit is arranged around ionizing chamber, poles are arranged opposite cathode and anode, field windings are placed on side portions of magnetic circuit, and rectangular holes are made in poles. Magnetic field may be also produced by means of magnetic system with flat ferrite magnets. Ion beam composition is controlled according to ion discharge capacity and ion source economic efficiency is raised by displacing magnetic system with pole shoes relative to front wall of ionizing chamber unidirectionally with or in opposite direction from ion beam propagation. EFFECT: provision for ion content control in ion beam of different ion discharge capacity, improved gas economic efficiency, simplified design, reduced mass and size of source. 3 cl, 7 dwg
