FIELD: measuring instruments.
SUBSTANCE: invention may be used in manufacturing of gyroscopes having gas-lubricated sliding bearings in order to determine wear resistance of the bearing surfaces. The bearing is rotated at a speed being equal to half the rotor rotation speed ωk at the moment when dry friction occurs and during the time period t, moreover, where Kn - number of cycles during lifetime of the gyroscope, Y - polar moment of inertia of the rotor, R - gas bearing radius, f - coefficient of sliding friction, G - weight of gyroscope parts rotating together with the bearing, and a variation in dry friction torque of the bearing is determined in the course if its rotation.
EFFECT: reducing the time of wear resistance inspection of a gas bearing and providing on-line determining the wear resistance of the bearing surfaces of a gyroscope.
