FIELD: storage devices. SUBSTANCE: atomically smooth substrate, such as monocrystalline graphite coated with hexamethyldisilazane, is used as medium for read-only storage. Data recording in medium requires rather low tunnel voltages (not over 5 V) at which degradation of tunnel probe does not occur. Monocrystalline dielectric, such as mica, may be used as substrate to carry epitaxial conducting layer of silver, for example. EFFECT: improved reliability. 2 dwg
