FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: placed in tested material is temperature-sensitive element and material in which high-pressure phase is formed which is capable of surviving after unloading and disintegration at heating the temperature-sensitive element in shock wave. Material with temperature- sensitive element is loaded with shock wave at preset initial temperature and different pressures of shock loading. Subject to determination are shock loading pressure and critical temperature of heating of temperature- sensitive element at which complete disintegration of high pressure phase takes place in it. Critical temperature of heating of temperature-sensitive element is taken as residual temperature in tested material. Temperature- sensitive element is loaded with shock wave at different values of initial temperature or use is made of temperature-sensitive element from other material.
