FIELD: chemical engineering. SUBSTANCE: essence of this process resides in that it should be run in two phases. First phase such steps as preparation of suspension at silicon dioxide-to-sodium oxide molar ratio greater than or equal to 3.6, heating and stirring of suspension having white color during at least 3 h until it changes to semi-transparent solution, addition of silicon-containing material to obtain silicon dioxide-to-sodium oxide molar ratio greater than 3.6, heating and stirring of thus prepared admixture until silicon-containing material becomes completely dissolved, and then separating water glass from nondissolved portion, for example, by either filtration or decanting after sedimentation.
