FIELD: waste processing. SUBSTANCE: thermal waste processing is accomplished in a shaft furnace by their charging, heating in plasma jets in a sealed reaction space on the surface of melted slag at T 2500 to 4500 C in oxidizing atmosphere with subsequent tapping of melted slags, metal and gases through a layer of melted slag with cleaning and utilization of the latters. The device for thermal waste processing has a shaft furnace with a charging device, plasma torches, tap-holes for metal and slag tapping, gas conduit for waste gases installed in the shaft crucible area around its edges. The device has an under-bridge bath; the sealed working spaces of the shaft and bath are separated by a vertical partition with a window in the bottom part with formation of a waterlock. The siphon slag tap-hole is located on the bath end that is remote from the shaft, with the drain threshold level being above the partition window, and the gas conduit is installed before this tap-hole.
