FIELD: technology of ceramic materials on the base of difficulty fusible oxide; metallurgy, power engineering, machine building, radioelectronics, chemistry and medicine for production of articles having various applications. SUBSTANCE: method involves formation of half-finished products using powder of zirconium nitride. The process is followed by roasting at temperatures up to 1800 C in oxygen-containing atmosphere till changes of weight and/or size in half-finished products being roasted are terminated. Zirconium nitride grains are affected by oxidizing agent which is carried out before or after formation of half-finished product, the process takes place till not more than 95 mass % of zirconium dioxide is formed. EFFECT: simplified production of ceramics of zirconium dioxide; decreased energy expense; improved ecologic features of the process. 1 tbl
