FIELD: activated carbon production. SUBSTANCE: method includes feeding fuel and air into combustion chamber, cooling combustion products to 750-1000 C with water which is fed through radial jets into narrowed (to linear velocity 100-300 m/s) stream of combustion products, feeding gas- vapor mixture under carbon material bed initiating its heat oxidative activation, and withdrawing activated carbon material and effluent gases, in which process, 5-20% of effluent gases is fed into combustion chamber as low-thermal-value fuel, and concentration of oxygen in gas-vapor mixture is maintained in the range 0.1-4.0 vol.%.
