FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology; diagnostics of pigmentary tumors of choroid. SUBSTANCE: method is based on determining melanin concentration in biological sample. Inventive novelty of method resides in that melanin concentration is determined spectrophotometrically in eyelashes of healthy and sick eyes within wavelength range 400-600 nm, in interval 10-20 nm. Next asymmetry coefficient is calculated by dividing greater value by smaller one. Small-size melanoma case is diagnosed at asymmetry coefficient values above 2.
