FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, more specifically, making steel in oxygen steel-making converter. SUBSTANCE: the offered method includes starting of measuring lance in the process of melt blowing with oxygen, direct measuring of metal temperature and carbon content in it. Then, oxygen lance is installed at a height of 35-38 calibers and oxygen is supplied with intensity of 1.9-2.0 cu. m/t. min up to oxygen consumption of 1.35-2.0 cu.m/t. Then, intensity of oxygen blowing is increased up to 3.25-4.85 cu.m/t.min and calculated mass of coolants is added to converter. Blowing is discontinued after oxygen consumption of 0.65-1.15 cu.m/t. Possible also is agitation of melt with neutral gas during coolant adding, with intensity of 0.05-0.25 cu. m/t. min through bottom lances. EFFECT: accelerated cooling of melt due to development of regulated oxygen blowing and bottom blowing in converters that provides for increased productivity and converter lining stability, and reduced consumption of coolants. 2 cl, 1 tbl
