FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, more specifically, steel making in oxygen converters. SUBSTANCE: after occurrence of steel spitting, oxygen blowing intensity is reduced by 15-50%, height of lance above the level of still molten bath is reduced by 5-30%. Blowing is continued for 0.5-10% of blowing total time. Then blowing intensity is smoothly increased at rate of 10-25% in every 1-5% of blowing total time. EFFECT: efficient elimination of metal and slag spilling in the course of steel melting; increased metal yield; converter higher efficiency; stability of its lining; reduced consumption deoxidizing agents and alloying materials. 1 tbl
