FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, in particular, steel making in oxygen converters; may be used in occurrence of hazard spitting of metal and slag in the course of oxygen blowing. SUBSTANCE: method includes blowing of metal with oxygen. In occurrence of hazard spitting of metal and slag, oxygen blowing intensity is decreased by 15-30%, oxygen lance is lowered through 1-1.56 calibers, loose materials are added by portions of 1.35-1.42 kg/t of steel. EFFECT: higher metal product yield and converter output, increased stability of converter lining and reduced consumption of loose deoxidizing agents and alloying agents. 1 cl, 1 tbl
