FIELD: mechanical engineering; connection of metals. SUBSTANCE: shielded-arc welding is carried out by means of torch with water screen. Water screen limits arc and welding pool. Water screen is delivered in form of inverted cone through ring channel of torch. Thickness of screen layer is reduced from top to bottom. Screen is passed through screw channels prior to entering the ring channel and is set into rotation. Screen water is collected in its lowermost part and is removed by vacuum pump with receiver. Water is reused over closed cycle with cooling and partial replenishment. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities. 2 dwg
