FIELD: treatment of fuel for internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: method consists in preheating diesel fuel to bring volumetric content of water in fuel to 3-5 percent and homogenization. Then dehydration and fine filtration are simultaneously performed by means of porous filtering partition made from hydrophobic material at filtration rating of 3 to 8 mk; before filtration, temperature of water-fuel emulsion is maintained at (Tcl+15) C to (Tcl+35) C but not below +5 C, where Tcl is fuel cloud point.
