FIELD: production of nonferrous metals, in particular, production of magnesium by electrolytic method. SUBSTANCE: electrolyzer includes lined shell, electrodes, partitions and floors which base is made in the form of monolithic plate freely laid on supporting surfaces with gaps between vertical surfaces of plates and wall lining of shell. The gaps exceed the plate expansion during heating by a factor of 2-5. EFFECT: higher tightness and prolonged service life.
