FIELD: gas treatment. SUBSTANCE: invention concerns removing hydrogen and its isotopes from gas mixture in electrochemical and chemical industries, radioelectronics, and mechanical engineering. First, hydrogenation agent is prepared: mixture of (i) disintegrated acetylene compound from the ethynylcyclohexanol group, which is subjected to oxidative dimerization to form hydroxycyclohexylacethylene, and (ii) catalyst: palladium-containing compound isolated from the reaction mixture originated from the Lindler catalyst production cycle in the stage preceding deactivation of catalyst by lead compounds. Content of palladium is 5-7 wt %, and acetylene compound to catalyst weight ratio ranges from 6:4 to 8:2. Into reaction space, an inert adsorbent is introduced and, in its contact boundary with hydrogenation agent, porous barrier is placed, its thickness not exceeding arithmetic average of the adsorbent granule size. Absorbent capacity achieved is 200-248 ml/h and hydrogenation rate 13.8-15 cu.cm/g h. EFFECT: enhanced process efficiency. 1 tbl
