FIELD: metal-working. SUBSTANCE: method involves ionic alloying technique followed by heat treatment and may find use when treating surface of objects operated under high loadings, in particular, titanium blades of gas turbine engines. In the method, argon ion beams are used with energy 250-400 eV, ion current density 1-10 mA/sq.cm and dose 1•1019-2•1019 ion/sq.cm; nitrogen ion beams with energy 250-400 eV, ion current density 10-40 mA/sq. cm and dose 1•1019-2•1019 ion/sq.cm. Stabilization annealing is then conducted at 450-600 C at pressure 0.001 to 0.005 Pa for 1.5-2 h. EFFECT: increased strength of surface. 2 dwg
